Checkatrade is the original online trade directory set up to connect trades with consumers. Having worked with the business for a number of years, supporting the in house development team, we are often asked to work on new and innovative products and developments. We recently launched a new feature called Checkatrade Now. A new system that would connect customers with local trades who are online, in the local area and available. This service allows the customers to be connected directly to the trades to arrange an immediate fix. This system was integrated into the existing Checkatrade app for both iOS and Android, and used calling services from Twillio and location based information to connect consumers to their nearest available trader.

We have also recently released the Checkatrde Alexa Skill which allows consumers to search for traders via voice on their smart speaker based on a user’s postcode and shares details with them to their Alexa app. We took this voice search though to telephone enquiries, to allow callers to search for traders using voice search, to alleviate pressure from the call centre.
